So. I had to read three different snippets of things for three different classes. It took me several hours tonight to do so, intermingled with the comings of Jenica's friend to fix our router problems and doing laundry with Sam. (I DO NOT HAVE TO GO UP AND DOWN STAIRS THIS YEAR TO ACCOMPLISH THIS!) And guess what?
I heartily enjoyed everything I read tonight for homework.

ETA: OMFG AND I READ TWILIGHT BY STEPHENIE MEYER WHILE MY INTERNET WAS BROKEN. It was absolutely amazing. I need to get me a vampire boyfriend asap. The facebook group says it best: "After reading Twilight, human boys just seem lacking." While I did not really enjoy the first person pov at first, it grows on you, and feels quite natural after a little while. (That's what all the fanfic will do to you... make you believe that third person is the ONLY POV WORTH IT OUT THERE, but that's not true.. really, it's not!) And since it is in the young adult section, it didn't go into as much detail (or as much porn) as I wished it could, but I've got a great idea for a fic already. I'm quite excited. :D
Oh, yes! And YAY for ![[info]](http://www.insanejournal.com/img/community.gif) hd_worldcup! I'm super excited to be a part of it, and I've had fun planning out my hp_springsmut fic, as well. Just letting you know, so you don't think fandom's gone by the wayside again... IT HAS NOT! :D ♥

11:05 pm - Happy New Year?

It has been a rough week for me.
It started off when I went on a roadtrip with my Grandpa, Uncle Tom, cousins Anthony (4), and Nicholas (2) to South Carolina. My Grandpa is from Belton, South Carolina, and he has five sisters and two brothers and lots and lots of other family members in the area. I was looking forward to it, because I haven't made the trip since I was 5 years old. It has always been a place of good childhood memories, and I've heard so many stories. However, it didn't go as well as I had been hoping.

One really awesome thing about the trip, though, was that on the last night, we stayed in Gatlinburg Tennessee on top of a mountain. The air was so crisp and clean and cool, I wanted to sleep outside. From our third floor hotel room, you could see a mountain stream going by. Here, let me show it to you!

And then there was New Year's. Which was... all right. The best thing about it was getting to meet dramedy and getting to see Jenica, and Jenni (who is back from Peru and who I love to freaking death) and I attempted to make some butterbeer, but I really should have practiced it beforehand. Some people drank too much and so that really kind of made the night... sucky. I don't understand how people can't just drink up to the point when they say to themselves, "Hey! I'm drunk and having a really good time!" and then just drink water from there on out. Obviously if you are aware that you are drunk, and that drinking anymore will make you sick, you should just... cease and desist. Right? That's what I do. I don't like feeling out of complete control and having to rely on other people to take care of me. I'll never do it. I'm sorry, dramedy, that you had to deal with that. But other than that, it was pretty fun. New Year's is kind of depressing as it is, especially if you've got no one to kiss. *emos more* (Shut up... I'm PMSing. I can do it if I WANT TO NYAH!)
Now... I'm NOT SAYING that these are New Year's Resolutions, because I don't beleive in them, but these are some plans I have for myself.
1. No more fast food. It's just not healthy.
2. Work out MWF with sam, TR with myself, after class.
3. No more all-nighters. Try for at LEAST SIX HOURS, and no more than ten.
4. Practice piano everyday in a practice room for half an hour to an hour.
5. Go out more in college and have more fun. (that won't be hard with my girls, but before we had an established little clique, do you know how often I went out? I think I went out like.. 3 times, in one and one half years. And didn't have much fun any of those times. It sure helps that dark_branwen has an apartment now. Hee.)
6. NOT SUCK AT SCHOOL. TRY. DON'T GIVE UP.
And that's about it, I think.

4:14 am - sticky!

Sorry for the spam, but I just wanted (no, needed) everyone to know that my sticky post has been updated (and the cut with all the fics I've ever written ever in the world now exists!)
HERE!
Some of them I am more proud of than others, but I believe that all of them show how I have grown as a writer in fandom. When I was first starting out, I hardly knew Harry and Draco... not really. But now? I think I know them quite a bit better, and I think I've become a better writer because of it. I hope to write much more fic in the years to come, and continually grow and get better.
I so badly want to be able to post my hd_hols fic, because it's about 10-15 times as long as most of these (literally) and I've never worked harder on anything in my life, but... that time will soon come. :)

12:02 am - flaws in my future, and a meme

I had a discussion with my friend Nate's mom while I was at work. (Not a coincidence. She and her husband own the gelato caffé I work at.) She was asking me about what I'm going to major in, and I started explaining it to her, how I'm going to major in English Writing with an emphasis in journalism, and minor in Global Studies, and then get my masters in International Journalism when I move to England. And then she asked me, "Well, what kind of magazine or newspaper do you want to write for?"
And I was kind of.. stumped. Well, I always assumed that one day, I'd be writing big exposés in big important magazines and changing the lives of the people who read my exposés, and hopefully improving the quality of life for those the particular exposé happens to be about. But I thought about it, and I have no idea what magazine or newspaper I could write for and still be able to throughly change the world. hehe, I know that's a tall order, but I don't really have any other reason for pursuing this major other than that.
I've kind of been playing with the idea of starting my own magazine one day. I have no idea how I would do that, but I'm going to keep the idea in the back of my mind until it seems like a possibility. I could team up with someone who knows the business end of it who has the same vision as I do, and with a photographer who has the same vision as I do (possibly mi_novio?), and perhaps join up with several other journalists with the same vision (maybe stitchesandlace *nudges*) and start from there. The thing about this magazine is that I want to make it interesting and something that kids and teens and young adults will gravitate towards... something that they REALLY will want to get their hands on. Teens and young adults, mostly - that will be the target audience. They are the ones who's minds I want to change and affect, they are the only minds that matter, because they are the ones who are going to grow up and make all the difference.
But if that whole thing doesn't work out, I suppose something like TIME magazine, or National Geographic... but... I don't feel like articles written in either of those magazines have the same vision as I do. I mean, maybe they do... it's not like I've ever really read either of them extensively. And that's exactly it. I want it to be something that people my age WILL have read, and have it be like a new trend - the thing to do. Is that even possible? *sigh*

19 credits. HOLY. SHIT. Yeah. I will be busy for the next two and a half years, basically. But I'm excited. :):) Sam (teh bff) also called me tonight to inform me that we got the room we wanted in our house, so me and Sam and leiaweasley have the big awesome basement room and it's seriously going to be the best semester EVER... I have never been more excited about school tonight. I also got one of the last parking spots, so woooo ♥ (ask me if I'm still excited about school in february... I think I may have a different answer...)
At work today, my cousin's friend handed me a flower that he made from a napkin. I didn't particular like this guy like that, but the fact still stood that I was dressed for work (I had ice cream all over me) and I hadn't put on any make up tonight, but some random guy made me a napkin rose. Dunno, it was an ego-boost for sure.
And I'm almost done with Christmas shopping. :) I will finish up tomorrow after work, I think. I'm in a really good mood, despite being the mediator of a viscious best friend fight atm. But I've done for them all that I possibly can. It's up to them now, to realise if they still have the same respect and love for one another that they used to have. I really hope that they do. But if not.. I cannot say that I didn't give it my all.
I bought my little brother a Harry Potter wand for Christmas... it came in the mail today. :) I'm so excited, because he's so into HP... I shall fuel this fire, believe me!!
Well. I think I might go watch some Dawson's Creek. (Yeah, shut up. It's the best show ever. SHUT UP.) I'm almost through the fourth season, and then I might wait for Jenni to get back from Peru to start on the fifth season.

I will leave you with this. I woke up today at 12:30 am, after having gone to bed at 1 pm, after not having slept the night before at all. I am a mess. But I don't really care... it's practically my right as a college student to have a completely reversed sleep schedule. (Though I do blame hd_hols for that atm, lol.) Oh, did I tell you about college? After everything, I am finally going back. For realz, dood. I am going back in January, and I couldn't be more excited. I will be rooming with my bestest friend in the whole entire world and with leiaweasley, and we are going to have the time of our lives... there is so much to look forward to in my life right now, I am quite happy. :) And I think I have ranted enough.

Flist? It has been way too long.
And Jesus Christ, Dumbledore is gay now?? Is this what happens when I am gone with sickness/retarded real life boyfriend problems for too long?? Should I attempt to get sick and be gone again, and maybe JKR will make Harry gay this time?
Anyways. I have a favor to ask of everyone. I've been gone for a really long time (like more than a month) and I don't have the mindpower or time to sift through a month's worth of flist posts, even though I would love to do just that. If you are reading this, will you just give me a short summary of what you've been up to lately/what's on your mind? And also, just for kicks, tell me a title of a book that I absolutely must read. I've been on a reading kick lately. (I suppose that's what getting mono will do for you. It has opened up mountains of time for actual book reading. Plus the fact that I'm now single, again.)
But I'll write a longer post soon all about how men are fucked up assholes whom I want to punch in the face with cement. I'll also include horrifying details of what it's like to come down with mono afterwards and have your wrockstock experience destroyed, as well as basically an entire month's worth of plans and commitments thrown into ruin. But in the meantime, please write me a little somethin' somethin happy and woo. Just for the record, who else is writing something Gay-Dumbledore Induced? Cuz I is. ♥

Instead of working (well, actually, I am at work, but you know, just doing this instead...) I figured out my schedule for the rest of college. (I seriously have SO MUCH FUN doing stuff like this. I did entire high school and college schedules for many of my friends. I'm a freak, what can I say?) But yeah. So I plan on going back in the Spring. I'm going to major in English Writing with an emphasis in Journalism, and Minor in International Global Studies. (GOD THAT SOUNDS SO COOL!) I've only got two and a half years to finish, if I want to graduate with Sam and Jenica. (And I really, really must do that.) And without further ado...

As well, stitchesandlace and I found out that we both aspire to do the same thing (be an international journalist.) So here's what we're gonna do: we're gonna get our undergrad degrees in our respective stuff (very similar respective stuff) and then we're going to go to City University in London and get our MA's in International Journalism (which only takes a year!) and we're going to get a flat together and be lovers and LIVE IN ENGLAND AND OMFGGGGG!!!!!!!!!! So you are all invited to come visit us, and we can go to all the places that are featured in all those fics, and dress up and be freaks and just be generally happy to be in England where Harry Potter takes place (as well as, you know... working real fricken hard on our degrees.) But yes. That's what we're doing. It's decided.
I have a cold and I have work ALLL DAY today (from 8 am - 10:30 pm) and then the same exact thing tomorrow. This sucks. The job I'm at now was supposed to have ended, but they asked me to stay a bit longer while they move company to Tennessee and like, enter stuff on the computer that's going into boxes and IT SUCKS. I totally haven't been doing that for like two hours now. I've been planning my future, which is so much more imporant than that. No one's ever gonna look at these files EVER AGAIN, so who even cares? (Legal people do. Screw them and their exactness tendancies.)
Oh, and we've got our room for Terminus already! *bounces excitedly*
